How Sister Act! Was Born
Once upon a time, in a small North Carolina town, there were two little sisters who liked to play dress up. Their mama liked to play dress up, too, and as soon as they were old enough to say Saks Fifth Avenue she whisked them off to New York to shop, and, as Mama would say, “to see what people are wearing.” So it wasn’t just about shopping; it was about personal style, tracking trends, and about putting it all together for a look that is practical, comfortable, and you. That also means working with what you had yesterday to look great today.

Both sisters worked for brief stints in the fashion world; but ultimately they pursued other interests: Duvall Fuqua on Wall Street, then as a wife, mother of four, and active community volunteer in Atlanta; and Frances Schultz in New York as a successful journalist and author of books about design and entertaining; their fashion interests stayed keen as ever.

Fast forward to 2008, when Carlisle Collection chairman and founder Bill Rondina was casting around for someone to help launch his newer, “trendier” Per Se Collection to be sold alongside the Carlisle Collection. Frances took a year’s hiatus from her journalism career to work for the company at their corporate headquarters in New York and became a believer.

She even convinced her fellow clothes-snob sister to give the clothes a try, and she became a believer too. Actually she became more than that. She became a Per Se and Carlisle Collection sales consultant and established her own business, hosting trunk shows in her home four times a year. “And now we’ll never shop any other way,” says Duvall.

Why Per Se and Carlisle?

The clothes are couture quality at bridge-line prices. Not cheap, but not stratospheric either. The fabrics and leathers are superb and from the same factories in Europe used by such designers as Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna. And most important, the collection is designed to be easily coordinated so that with 4 or 5 pieces you have 8 or 9 outfits – working with staples you already own and avoiding the-closet-full-of-clothes-and-nothing-to-wear syndrome. Those days are over.

The four collections--spring, summer, fall, and holiday--are absolutely meant to be mixed and matched and also to segue from season to season. Clothes especially designed for women of all ages and for any occasion. We like to say “work clothes, party clothes, everyday clothes.”
